Yellowjacket Football

Friday night, we were all excited that Friday Night Football was back!!! The Estes Family loves all things football and love even more getting to cheer the nephews on as they play!

I took this picture of Mallory right before the rain came pouring down.

It rained on us most of the way there but cleared up right when we got there so it made for a very nice evening. Here we are ready to cheer the Yellowjackets on!

Uncie helps with the blow-up run through so we got to see him before the game starts. Mallory was happy to see the Stingerettes since she got to go to their dance clinic.

We found our favorite Yellowjacket - #11 as he warmed up

As the sun started to set, it made for a beautiful backdrop.

Caleb gets to hold the football for when they kick a field goal so we cheered for him when he went out for his job.

Unfortunately, we were behind all game and HP was beating us but in the 4th quarter, we got to cheer again because our favorite QB got to go in and play a couple of possessions. He completed all his passes and had a good run too. We were all so proud!

We were all happy to tell him good job after the game!

Even though we started this year out with a loss, it will still be a fun season getting to cheer our favorite team on! Go Yellowjackets!

Weekend Wrap-Up

For the first weekend in a very long time, we had nothing planned! We started out the weekend cheering on the Yellowjackets in their 2nd playoff game Friday night!

It was cool but not as chilly as the week before - it was a perfect evening for football!

My cheerleader yelling loud!

Mallory always loves seeing Caleb's girlfriend, Savannah!

The game was close - going back and forth. We had a hard time tackling their QB but Rockwall was able to pull it out and put it away in the 4th quarter. It was a great game and we won!! Onto the next round!

We were happy, as always, to see Caleb after the game!

We were out late so we Saturday morning we all slept in and it was glorious! Mallory kept saying "Momma, we won!!" I think she had a great time at the game because she was still cheering the next morning.

Saturday morning and afternoon, we did nothing. Brian had traveled last week and it was just a busy week in general so we enjoyed resting and relaxing. While I was resting, I caught up on some blogs I like to read and one of the blogs I like is: Diana Wrote  I was reading about her new daughter and laughed when I saw her daughter's middle name is the same as Mallory's (Anne) and the story of it is just like mine.  "Anne" was after her mom's middle name (just like my Mom's - her middle name is Ann) but she added an "e" at the end just like I did because we love Anne of Green Gables. The only difference is I told my Mom I was adding the "e" but it's always fun to hear someone thinking the same way. Here is what she said:

A few months ago we decided on her middle name as Ann – after my mom’s middle name. I thought about adding an “e” since I adore Anne of Green Gables, but thought that wouldn’t be really after my mom anymore. Once we told her though, she asked me that night if I’d consider adding an “e” to it as she’d always wanted one on hers because of Anne. So Ann became Anne. :)

Saturday afternoon, Brian asked if he should get the Christmas decorations out and once he put that in my mind, we were in Christmas decorating mode. Mallory was thrilled when I told her we could decorate Saturday night. Brian pulled it all out, I looked through all I had and then we ran to Hobby Lobby to get some Christmas items.

Mallory was happy to push the buggy and to pick out our wrapping paper for the year

It was such a fun evening putting everything up. Mallory is at a great age to help and she had the biggest smile on her face the whole time. So did I just watching her.

Sunday morning, we went to church! I laugh because I put Mallory's coat on after these pictures and she was still wearing it when I picked her up from her class. She said she was cold the whole time so she never took it off :)

I had the privilege of subbing for my friend Melody's 8th grade class. I taught on when Abraham was tested and was willing to sacrifice his only son, Isaac (Genesis 22). I know that I was naive in going thinking everyone had heard this story but that was not the case. All the girls kept saying, I want to know what happens next and when we read that God had seen Abraham's faith and He brought him a ram to be sacrificed, one girl said "Whew, that's good." We had a great conversation about the testing of our faith. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to share this amazing story with these girls.

I was also happy that I got to teach it again to my 10th grade girls! I love being able to teach because I feel I learn the most when preparing the lessons for the week!

After church on Sunday, this picture sums up Mallory and I's afternoon. We napped together and it was just what we needed.

Sunday night, I got things ready for this short week! While we were doing things, Mallory decided she needed to bring all of her stuffed animals into the living room. Sometimes, you can't just play with one.

I'm looking forward to this short work week and to celebrating Thanksgiving with our families!

That's a wrap!

Yellowjackets Playoff Game - Round 1

Friday night was the Yellojacket's first round playoff game. It was very chilly so we got our warm clothes on, grabbed our blankets and headed to the stadium.

I got Mallory this cute toboggan at Old Navy and she has wanted to wear it everyday since we got it. We love the Friday Night Lights - especially when it's playoff time!

The Estes Family in their happy place

Me and my girl snuggled close all night - body warmth!

We found Uncie as soon as we got there and had to tell him hi

Ready to get this game started!

We knew Caleb would get to dress out with the Varsity but didn't know if he would get to play but were so excited when he got to go in and Play in his first Varsity Game! We found him once they lined up for the national anthem.

They are very serious in watching the game

Grammy and Pappy came to the game too so Mallory was happy to get any snuggles in with Grammy when she could!

In the 4th quarter, #4 Caleb went in and we yelled loud for him

My mini me yelling during the game. I love it!

It was a close game until Rockwall started pulling away and we won! So exciting!

We got to see Caleb for a minute after the game. High fives and kisses :)

Winning smile!

Not sure how far the Yellowjackets will go but we have had and are having fun this football season! Go Jackets!

Friday Night Football - Yellowjacket Style

Our weekend started off with Friday Night Football cheering on our Yellowjackets. Every time we drive by the football stadium, Mallory asks when we are going so I was happy to finally say that football was back and we would be going to watch some football! Here are some pics from the Yellowjackets first football game of 2015. I was looking at all the pics and think I took a picture of everyone who was there and not too many of the game but everybody was all smiles so I snapped away!

She looks so big to me in this picture! She was so excited!

Growing up at football games! Football is a family tradition and I love making these memories with my family!

Me and my girl ready for the game

Family selfie shot

Once we got there and saw Auntie and Cade, we got our seat and Mallory saw Uncie and had to tell him hi

We always look forward to seeing Auntie and Amy at the games!

Our friends, The Loflands and The Ballards joined us too and Liam was excited to see the Yellowjacket (yes, we are the Yellowjackets in orange colors - weird, I know!)

And Mallory was hiding behind Brian when the Yellowjackets came by. She does not want to be near them at all - crazy girl!

Safe in Daddy's arms!

It was time for the game to start and Mallory loves the blow up tunnel the team runs through so she was happy to see it again this year. I love all that goes along with the games: the band, cheerleaders, drill team, etc... It just makes it all so much fun

These three played and watched the game together! We love Mallory's new spirit necklace from Pretty as Pie!

Not too long after the game started, cousin Caleb came by so she was thrilled to see him!

My sweet friends and a photobomb by Jaile - I love it!

I wish to say the game was exciting but our Jackets lost a lot of players this year so this may be a rebuilding year, if you know what I'm saying :/

Halftime brought the Stingerettes and band. Mallory loves to dance with them

At the end of halftime, a Marine Corporal surprised his family. They thought they were just being honored for his service but  then he walked out of the tunnel and it was a great moment!

This is a better pic someone took for the school. This is his sister embracing him

These two friends having a great time!

And when they were done watching the game, they played hide'n'seek

And then it was time to color

Finally, we headed home after our fun with our family and friends! Here's hoping the Jackets have a better game next week!
