Happy Birthday Mallory!

She's Here!!! Mallory Anne Estes was born on May 21, 2011 at 7:49pm, weighing in at 5 lbs, 12 oz and is 18 3/4" long. We are so thrilled and think she is the most beautiful creation by God!

We knew on Friday that we would get to meet her in the next couple of days but Saturday morning, my Dr. came in and said that Saturday would be day! I was excited, nervous, everything you could think I was feeling, I did. But more excited than anything!! We were told that they would take me back at 3pm and Mallory would probably be born by 5pm via C-section. Well at 6:00 pm, my nurse, Dede, came in and said that it would probably more around 7:00-7:30pm. I was fine with the waiting - I was just sooooooooo hungry. I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink since 8:30 am that morning. And it was dinner time so everybody was going to get dinner. I actually had a room ready for me at 5pm, however, there was an emergency that came through right as they were getting ready for me to come down and I got bumped.

They did take me back about 7:15pm and then everything happened so fast. I look up and there's my husband in his scrubs and then it was time for the epidural. This was my first surgery ever so I was nervous just because I've never had major surgery before and didn't know what all to expect. The epidural went in causing my blood pressure to drop fast and then all of a sudden, I got very nauseus and remember looking at Brian and saying "I can't do this." I laugh at that because I don't know where I thought I was going but I was for sure I wasn't going to be able to do it but all of a sudden, the relief medicine came through and I was fine. Next thing I knew, my Dr was saying "She's here" and then the Dr. said "And, she just peed on me." Haha - nice entry into the world!

Brian holding Mallory for the first time; Me kissing my angel

Brian went over to be with her and they moved the curtain a little so I could see her and the top of her head with all of that hair. She's so beautiful and looks just like her Father. I just kept saying how pretty and beautiful she was. They did monitor her more closely because she was born at 37 weeks and they wanted to make sure her lungs had developed well. She was grunting a lot, which they said was good, however she hadn't let out a real good cry yet so they took her up to the nursery to try to monitor her more. Once she got up there, they said she let out many good cries and everything looked good. I was so thankful - I just didn't want her to have to go to the NICU if possible.

Her little hand in her father's hand

Mallory got to come to our room around 3am and I got to really hold and look at her precious face. I only got a couple of hours of sleep that night because I kept looking at her - I couldn't believe she was ours! We had so many family and friends come by on Sunday & Monday ... again, we are so thankful for all the love and support we have and Mallory is loved by so many people!

Today, she turned 48 hours old! I love it when I just hold her and stare at her and thank God for what he's entrusted to Brian and I. We have so much to learn but are enjoying every second of it! Thank you again for all of your prayers and kindness! Come by and meet her!
