Mallory's First Visit to the Dentist

Thursday morning, we headed to Mallory's first dental appointment. We've been talking to her about going since we made the appointment so she wouldn't be scared or surprised about anything. It helped that Mallory's dentist is one of best friends growing up, Melissa, so we just talked about going to see Mrs. Melissa and opening real big so she could see all of her teeth.

Since it was her first time, Melissa said they just do as much as the child will let them do. They don't push anything on them because they want them to have a good first experience.

I was really impressed with Melissa's office because it was so kid friendly. When we got there, they had all of the new patients names on the board.

First stop was to get X-Rays. Mallory was a little hesitant at first but once she got in the chair, she was good to go.

Next, it was time to go to the Elephant room for teeth cleaning. They were playing Tangled on the TV on the ceiling and Mallory loved it!

She got her teeth cleaned and said she loved the water they sprayed after her cleaning

Finally, Melissa came in to give a final look and she said the X-Rays looked good and no cavities! She told her she did a great job on all that they needed to do. She counted Mallory's teeth and said everything looked good!

I'm so glad that Melissa comes up to the Rockwall office once a month so we can take Mallory to see her!

Melissa and I got to chat for a good bit before we left so it was nice to catch up with her

Mallory got a bag of goodies, including a new Dora toothbrush. She couldn't wait to open it when we got home!

Brian and Mallory after a successful first dental appointment. We were so proud of her!

Another first is complete! Love her sweet smile!

The dentist could really be a bit frightening at times -- not only for kids, but for some adults as well, especially if the dentist isn’t that nice. Anyway, It’s great that this has been amazomg first experience for Mallory. The kid-friendly atmosphere office really helps in making it easy for children to surpass this situation without struggling or crying. Thanks for sharing this lovely post with us, Amanda. Cheers!

Mallory is so adorable! She did a great job on her first trip to the dentist. I'm sure you're all so proud of her. I'm so happy that she doesn't have any cavities. After all, it's not unusual that girls her age have them. Although, I guess it's due to you being a great dental guide. Keep it up, Amanda! Thanks for sharing that! All the best to your lovely family! :)

That first visit is sure to be one of many. Thank goodness! Adults usually let years and years go by without stopping by the dentist's office because they are nervous about having a checkup done. (Who wants to hear bad news?) Taking young ones to regular dental appointments helps them become more comfortable with these visits. When they grow up, they don't feel any anxiety.

Oh she looks like she is having a wonderful time. It was funny to see the difference between how my daughter acted and how my son acted. My son cried the whole time and hid behind the curtain. My daughter was ecstatic and loved the whole process. She felt like such a grownup and kept asking all these different questions.
