We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this year! It's fun to see Mallory start to get into these fun holidays. She was most excited that she was going to have a party at school. She knows parties usually involve cake or cupcakes, which are her favorite, so any mention of party and she is thrilled! She can't really say Valentine so she would say Happy Tine Day - it worked!
The day before Valentine's Day, Brian told Mallory she had gotten something in the mail. My parents had mailed Mallory some Valentine gifts in the mail and she couldn't wait to open it. This picture cracks me up because she sees Brian open things with his teeth and now when she tries to open anything, she starts by putting it her mouth to open it like her Daddy.
She got a cute card, some candy, some stamps and $5. She loved putting that in her bank. Thanks Nana and Papa!
Thursday night, we got everything ready to take to her party. I signed up to bring Rice Krispie Treats and as much as I wanted to make them, I decided to take the easy road and buy them. I'm so glad I did - it was so easy to unwrap them and then Mallory added some red sprinkles to them. She did use the whole sprinkles bottle on 20 treats but they all looked great after shaking some of the sprinkles off :)
Valentine's Day morning, was one of those mornings that you wish you could have a do-over. Honestly, it was a rough one! Brian usually takes Mallory to school but since it was her party day, I wanted to take her and take all of things to the party with her. Of course, Mallory didn't want to wake up and then she didn't want to change clothes and then she didn't want to go with me to school. She wanted to ride with Daddy like she always does so just getting out the door was a chore. Once we got to school, she walks in crying and goes straight to her favorite person, her teacher, Ms. Megan. And all was well in the world. We all love Ms. Megan and soon the tears were gone and she was happy.
Thankfully, Megan sends me updates and pictures throughout the day so I loved getting this one Friday.
Mallory's class got to have a pizza party and then had some valentine's treats. She took her Valentine's box we made earlier in the week and she gave her Disney Princess valentine's to her classmates. There were so many creative boxes from the kids. One was a deer stand that was so neat!
After I picked up Mallory from school, we headed to see Nana and Papa and to take them their card
Before we could get to giving them their card, she had to go through her box and show them all of the valentine's that she got at school.
After seeing Nana and Papa, we headed home so we could give Daddy his cards but as soon as Mallory saw her gift with the balloon, she just waited for Daddy to get home so she could open her present.
She just got a balloon, a couple of suckers and some chocolates that was in a Cinderella box but she loved just being able to open a present!
Brian read her the card we got for her and then Mallory gave Brian the card she got for him. Brian and I just agreed to give each other cards this year. We love keeping it simple!
Soon, it was time to go watch Caleb play basketball. We spent our Valentine's Day evening cheering him on at his tournament. We got to be with family and that was a great way to end the day!
And most importantly, I saw this and had to re-post. I am so grateful for the greatest love of all, the love of Jesus Christ!
Valentine's Day 2014 was a great day!

Love the sprinkle overload, Miss Mallory!
Minus the morning shenanigans, I'm glad it was a great day! I bet she went bananas over that princess box of chocolates!
